Grand Musjid, Cordoba, Spain
Andalucia
Alhumdulillah we have just returned from a visit to Spain. As part of our itinerary, we visited the cities of Cordoba, Granada and Seville in the Andalucia region of Spain. This area of Spain was ruled by Muslims from the 700s to 1400s and is full of Islamic history. It is fascinating to visit these areas where the Muslims have left indelible marks attesting to their prosperity and power. The accompanying picture is that of the Mehrab of the Musjid in Cordoba. After the fall of the muslims, the musjid was converted into a cathedral but the Mehrab remains as well magnificent open areas lined with double-arched pillars lit by naturall light. It was in its time, the largest musjid in the west and could hold 40 000 worshippers at one time. It is an amazing place to visit as its grandeur and beauty is amazing to behold.
More pictures later insha allah.

Subhanallah
(1) For, believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord. (2) Who establish regular prayers and spend (freely) out of the gifts We have given them for sustenance: (3) Such in truth are the Believers: they have grades of dignity with their Lord, and forgiveness, and generous sustenance.
Surat Al-Anfal
Allahu Akbar ...
A Picture that is worth more than a thousand words....
Prayer, a great act of worship that is still obligatory...
Even when trapped in the prisons of the oppressors...
What excuse do we have for not reading ours.

Dome of the Rock
This is the Musjid of the Dome of the Rock. It is a separate musjid located on Temple Mount within the borders of Musjidul Aqsa. This Musjid is often shown when the media refer to Musjidul Aqsa but we should know better. It is built over the rock from which our Nabi (SAW) ascended to the heavens on his Mehraj. Although it is a significant place in our history, Musjidul Aqsa is the Third Haram of Islam.Aslam
As-salaam-u-alaikum

Musjidul Aqsa
Asalaamu alaikum,The blog has been very quiet recently...please send me news, information and pictures to post to the blog. Alhumdulillah we travelled to Musjidul Aqsa in December 2008 just before the Israeli's assault on Gaza. This picture is of the entrance to Musjidul Aqsa. It was very clear to us that this is truly the forgotten haram. Every Muslim should struggle with all their might and being for the day that Musjidul Aqasa is liberated. May Allah Ta'la grant us all the glory of contributing to the day when Musjidul Aqsa is free again.
Alhumdullilah As'ad and Summaiya have a new addition to their family - a baby boy. May Allah Ta'la make him the coolness of their eyes and a warrior in the path of Islam.

Cape Town - Sunset from Table Mountain
Cape Town - City Bowl at Sunset
Alhumdulillah we recently spent a week on holiday back in Cape Town. It was nice to see old friends and we were able to spend time with Uncle Zakie. He is recovering well from his recent illness but still needs more treatment. Please remember him in your dua and pray that Allah Ta'ala gives him strenght at this time.
Alhumdulillah Cape Town is very scenic and even after having stayed there for so long, we are still taken back the beauty created by the All Mighty. I took this picture just after sunset from Signal Hill.
Was-salaam,
Aslam Bhorat
